Underwriter - 13 Month Contract
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £17,000 - £21,000
Reporting to the Underwriting Section Leader, the successful applicants will be responsible for underwriting all classes of Personal Lines Business generated by our clients dedicated sales and customer service departments. This is a 13 month contract dealing with a new project starting in Jan 09
Responsibilities:
Handling of referrals and enquiries
Processing of new business and mid term alterations
Dealing with renewals and existing business
Answering all account and claim queries
Communicating product change to all relevant parties
Carrying out all renewal reviews in line with laid down procedures
Account handling
Skills:
Has a sound insurance background and knowledge of the market place
Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, together with numeracy skills to make accurate calculations
Has the determination to succeed as both an individual and a team player
Is sales focused coupled with a desire to provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers
Is well organised, accurate and pays attention to detail
Can prioritise their workload and maintain effective time management to ensure deadlines are met
Has good IT skills
Demonstrates enthusiasm, initiative and drive
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades C or above, including English and Mathematics
Ideally must also possess or have a willingness to work towards ACII or equivalent qualification
