Commercial Underwriter
Location: Gloucester
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000
A well established Insurance Company requires a Commercial Underwriter within their Trading team to assist with developing their services within their national network of Commercial Brokers.
You will be actively involved in the acquisition of new commercial business through technical assessment of individual risks; also you will be involved in account management dealing with Mid-Term Adjustments and Renewals.
Responsibilities:
Proactively handle new business leads and enquires (Continues profitable growth of the commercial account geared towards the SME sector)
Underwriter existing business (Mid-terms and Renewals)
Develop effective relationships with external intermediaries, arranging meetings where required
Minimise the repetition of Loss through sound underwriting practices
Deal with Commercial Combined enquires while providing technical support to the Package team and dealing with larger more complex Package policies
Skills:
Good Organisational Skills and Computer Literate
Ability to negotiate and develop long term relationships
The ability to Asses technical risks
Experience of Liability and Property underwriting practices
Understanding of the Insurance market and legal changes effecting the underwriting of profitable Commercial Business
