Property / Casualty Underwriter
Location: Bristol
Salary: £20,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
A Property and Casualty Underwriter is required to provide underwriting expertise and services to Brokers and Customers and to ensure first class customer service and that business objectives are met.
Responsibilities:
Underwrite and negotiate business within authority limits, ensuring first class customer service
Implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures
Handle a range of queries within agreed authority limits, providing information and advice to assist in the development of the account and maintain underwriting standards
Maximise retention, new business and cross selling opportunities
Demonstrate knowledge of relevant systems, products, processes and procedures to be able to provide a first class experience for customers
Act as a source of underwriting knowledge and share this knowledge, in both formal and informal settings with less experienced team members
Coach and develop colleagues
Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture
Ensures accurate records are maintained and quality documents are promptly produced in accordance with Company practice and procedures
Skills:
A Levels or equivalent
Significant experience of a Commercial underwriting environment
Property underwriting experience required, with some knowledge of Casualty underwriting preferred
ACII / Diploma in Insurance or progress towards
System/PC Skills and keyboard skills
A professional approach with ability to cope with varying workloads and pressures
Ability to deliver excellent customer experience and work in a team/team player
Strong verbal and written communication skills
