Commercial Underwriter
Salary: £15,000 - £20,000

Our Client has a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Underwriter to join their expanding Commercial Underwriting Team. Your role will be to develop profitable commercial business through technical assessment of individual risk involving the negotiation and processing of suitable terms for new business, change in risk, claims and renewals
Responsibilities:
Underwrite new and existing business in accordance with personal underwriting authority and negotiating terms with the insurance broker in order to meet the required departmental business objectives
Consider and act on the underwriting implications of claims to minimise the potential for repetition of loss
Accurately respond to queries raised on policies and products by brokers, surveyors and claims departments
Participate in regular meetings to provide personal feedback on results to maximise underwriting delivery, broker development and team effectiveness
Skills:
Good organisational skills, ability for self-motivation and desire to learn
The ability to be a skilful communicator, negotiator and relationship builder, with some experience of these skills in a work or learning environment
Numerical proficiency sufficient to deal with underwriting
Understanding of commercial insurance risk classes of property, pecuniary and liability to the extent to which they form part of the products handled by the role
The ability to assess technical risk and make decisions within their authority on all aspects of the products they handle
2 A Levels or equivalent qualification would be beneficial
IFC and preferably progress towards CIP would be beneficial
