Senior Claims Handler
Location: Bristol
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
This is a Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Claims Handler to join our clients Professional and Financial Risks Team. Your role will be to advise insurers and professional organisations when they are faced with the threat of a professional negligence claim.
The overall purpose of this role is to provide a timely, professional and high-quality service to clients in the management of professional indemnity cases.
Responsibilities:
Work on Professional Indemnity cases with a value up to £200k
Managing a varied professional indemnity caseload
Legal issues in respect of a variety of professions as well as building an understanding of each profession's own rules, procedures and regulatory framework
You will also be conducting reviews of new cases, completing case checklist to identify coverage issues
Assessing liability and quantum and establish strategy for the case
Resolving claims through negotiation of settlement, rebuttal of claim and / or declining of cover and reviewing panel reports and obtaining instructions when appropriate
Skills:
Previous experience of working as a paralegal or claims handler within an insurance or legal environment an essential
An in depth understanding of insurance claims management typically gained through a number of years experience within a legal or insurance environment
IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel
Knowledge of case management systems such as Solcase would be an advantage but training will be provided
Client focused with an ability to build strong relationships with client and third party contacts at all levels
