Commercial Underwriter – Team Leader
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

A highly successful organisation has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Underwriter Team Leader to join its expanding underwriting division.
Your role within the company will to be to develop profitable commercial business through technical assessment of individual risk and schemes.
Your Key responsibility is for the daily delivery of the underwriting team performance and effectiveness
Responsibilities:
Working within a team of 9 Underwriters with up to 4 direct reports including appraisals
Negotiating terms with the insurance broker in order to meet the required departmental business objectives
Work within the Company’s key performance indicators and to the agreed productivity work levels published
Day-to-day management of an Underwriting team for effective delivery of results to meet the departmental business objectives and KPI
Handle technical referrals from less experienced colleagues in order that business can be dealt with effectively within correct authority levels and in doing so coaching colleagues to broaden their understanding and ability
Skills:
Demonstrate excellent Communication and Negotiation Skills
Detailed underwriting experience in property, pecuniary and liability classes of insurance equally, and for all relevant classes across a variety of products and trades would be beneficial
The ability to assess technical risk and make decisions within their authority on all aspects of the products they handle
People management skills and experience with the ability to appraise people, and deal with absence management
Coaching skills and dispute resolution skills
Computer Literate
2 A Levels or equivalent would be beneficial
ACII / Diploma or similar level of technical insurance qualification would be beneficial
