Deputy Chief Actuary London

This industry shaping organisation is looking for an actuary with extensive post qualification experience in the UK life insurance market to take up the role of Deputy Chief Actuary. This role represents an exciting and challenging opportunity with the key responsibilities being to proactively:

• Carry out proportionate, risk-based assessments of own small portfolio of insurance firms and the groups to which they belong to identify risks
• Perform effective, risk-based and proportionate analysis of industry data to identify, to senior management and supervisory teams, emerging themes, provide insights, highlight issues facing the industry and recommend actions;
• Lead on some and lend support on other strands of research work aimed at providing key insights to help supervision of firms;
• Support risk assessment visits to firms to understand business models and governance; meeting senior actuarial staff as well as the wider senior management;
• Take on staff management responsibilities including line management, agreeing objectives and reviewing performance against the objectives and recommending pay and bonus;
• Sign off on all actuarial advice provided by line actuaries on a large portfolio of medium to small firms in the UK life industry;
