Main Purpose of Role
To provide superior underwriting expertise and services to customers ensuring first class customer service and that business objectives and company standards are met.
Implementing company underwriting policy in area of specialisation.

Responsibilities
Underwrite and negotiate business within authority limits, ensuring first class customer service.
Implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, procedures.
Implement underwriting policy within area of specialism.
Handle a range of queries within agreed authority limits, providing information and advice to assist in the development of the account and maintain underwriting standards
Involved in effective training of junior underwriters.
Act as a source of underwriting knowledge.
Take responsibility for referral risks within team.
Participation in underwriting audits.

Skills - Technical
Degree level or equivalent business underwriting experience 
Significant casualty underwriting experience
Good understanding of underwriting principles.
Computer literate.
Achieve or progressing towards professional qualifications - ACII.

Skills - Behavioural
Must be proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
Highly Numerate.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good team player.
