Commercial Underwriter

Commercial Underwriter - Surrey - up to £30,000 plus excellent benefits

The purpose of this job is to underwrite commercial risks from a designated panel of intermediaries within agreed authority levels, to achieve profitable growth in line with company and branch objectives.

The role
Underwrite new and existing business profitability, accurately and in line with established Underwriting practice.
Supply underwriting support to Account Managers as required.
Maintain and develop business relationships with intermediaries.
Produce timely and accurate documentation.
Actively encourage generation of profitable new business.
Respond to customers requests for information.
Promote the business through a polite, helpful and willing attitude to all customers and colleagues – external and internal.
Assist and coach colleagues with technical and procedural aspects of underwriting, as required.

Experience of Commercial Underwriting.
Previous experience of working within a commercial insurance environment and Commercial Underwriting a requirement.
Aware of market knowledge and trading issues.
Understanding how this role relates to other Area functions.
Aware of service standards and business processes for the role.
