Job Purpose
Assist the Commercial Technical Training Specialist in ensuring adequate training facilities and programmes are developed and made available to the technical and support staff of the Commercial department in order that the department may achieve its corporate objectives. To carry out technical and where suitable soft skills training in support of the training need.
Main Responsibilities
Assist the Commercial Technical Training Specialist in identifying the training needs of individuals in the department.
Produce training solutions and development programmes for the department, and for staff in other areas in support of Commercial as requested by the Assistant Commercial Manager, which meet the required needs.
Co-ordination of the training programmes for the department and ensuring that they are updated and undertaken effectively.
Undertake technical training in support of development programmes in liaison with other senior Commercial staff and the Commercial Technical Training Specialist.
Underwrite on a regular basis to the required level, rotating through the teams to ensure knowledge remains current and valid.
Provide training and feedback reports to the Commercial Technical Training Specialist on a regular basis
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
The Commercial Technical Training Officer needs to have
Excellent organisational skills to achieve the level of co-ordination required.
Excellent verbal and written skills in order to deal with staff at all levels, provide training on a one-to-one or as a group and in liaising with outside organisations.
Numerical proficiency sufficient to deal with expense evaluation and underwriting.
Have in depth underwriting experience in property and liability classes of insurance, and for both classes had experience of underwriting business across a mixture of trades and products.
Had at least some experience of coaching and training in a technical Commercial insurance environment with the aptitude to develop these skills to the requirement of the role
Excellent keyboard skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, preferably to an intermediate level.
To have or be working towards ACII/Diploma or equivalent technical insurance qualification.
